M'bube, Our Lawn Lion!
A specimen of fungi, Agaricacae, growing on my lawn. The spikes resembled the face of a lion. "M’bube" is Zulu for "lion" and was also a song written and recorded in 1939 by Solomon Linda, a South African Zulu singer. An American group, The Tokens, (mis)appropriated it in the 1961 hit song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”
